Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 July 2026
Summary: NetInfo does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Your browsing activity never leaves your device.
What NetInfo does
NetInfo is a Safari browser extension for macOS that displays technical networking information about the website currently open in your browser tab, including IP address, TLS version, certificate details, HTTP protocol, and connection timing metrics.
Data we collect
NetInfo collects no personal data. Specifically:
- We do not collect your browsing history
- We do not store any information about the websites you visit
- We do not collect your IP address
- We do not use cookies or any tracking technologies
- We do not create user accounts or profiles
- We do not transmit any data to our servers (we have none)
Third-party services
NetInfo uses the ipapi.co (opens in a new window) API to look up ASN and ISP information for a website's IP address. When you open the NetInfo popup on a website, the IP address of that website's server is sent to ipapi.co to retrieve provider information.
Please refer to ipapi.co's Privacy Policy (opens in a new window) for details on how they handle API requests.
NetInfo does not use any analytics, advertising, or crash reporting services.
On-device processing
All connection metrics — including TLS version, certificate expiry, HSTS status, HTTP protocol, and timing data — are gathered entirely on your device using Apple's built-in networking APIs. This data is displayed in the popup and immediately discarded when the popup is closed. Nothing is written to disk or sent anywhere.
Children's privacy
NetInfo does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. NetInfo will never introduce data collection without updating this policy first.
